Discord is proud to celebrate Black History Month 2025 by honoring the resilience, creativity, and legacy of Black individuals who continue to shape the gaming industry. This month, we’re amplifying Black culture, voices, and contributions throughout the gaming space, recognizing the profound impact of Black creators, players, and communities.

Our Black and African American Movement Employee Resource Group (BAAM ERG) is excited to highlight some of their favorite Black gaming communities, content creators, and innovators. From competitive to casual players, game developers to community builders, Black gamers have played a vital role in shaping the gaming landscape and fostering inclusivity in every genre of play.

Join us by supporting a small handful of the incredible creators and communities that make gaming more diverse, inclusive, and inspiring.

  • Aurélia Durand — a French graphic artist whose work is focused on celebrating identity, diversity, and womanhood. Aurélia even created the amazing header artwork for this blog post!
  • Black Girl Gamers — a community-driven organization founded by Jay-Ann Lopez that advocates for diversity and inclusion while amplifying the voices of Black women in the gaming industry.
  • Brown Girl Gamer Code — a leading digital community for women and femmes of color in gaming and tech created by Brandii JaVia to help amplify the stories and contributions of women of color in these industries.

As we celebrate Black History Month, we invite everyone to "press start" on an experience that honors the full spectrum of Black involvement in gaming — highlighting the ever-important intersections of culture, identity, and representation.

By building inclusive spaces, amplifying Black stories, and championing Black innovators, we can work together to create a gaming community that’s more diverse, welcoming, and reflective of the world around us.

Let’s continue to support, uplift, and celebrate the voices that make gaming a more creative, inclusive, and inspiring space for all. And if you’d like to help us build belonging, we encourage you to take a peek at our career opportunities — everyone at the BAAM ERG would love to have you!
